The project provided one month food support to 500 vulnerable families especially widows,
destitute women, street children and orphans during the holy month of Ramadan in Sylhet, Dhaka and Jhenaidah, Bangladesh. Additionally 480 widows, destitute and orphans received Islamic education followed by a full iftar meal, during Ramadan, in the cities of Jhenaidah and Sylhet.

Empowering Women of Mesopotamia
According to the UN, the Iraqi Red Crescent and Oxfam, the number of widows in Iraq is approximately one million. For many years, Iraqi widows suffered economic downturn as a result of economic sanctions and continuous armed conflict which left them and their families vulnerable and fragile. Over the years widows sold their household possessions and used all their savings to survive the hard times, they are now left with very little or nothing to live on.
Help the Needy with the Walk for Iraq are fundraising for a project to develop the existing skills and empower the widows with new skills through practical training so that the women can start working and earning for themselves and their families.

Empowerment of Widows in Mesopotamia - Phase Two
Phase 2 started on the 12th of April and finished 18th of April. This phase aims to provide new skills in a variety of subjects that will enabled empowerment of the widows to started their own small business or join existing businesses, this will allow them to bring added value and start earning for themselves and families.
